Nestled in the Lebanese mountains
Our story begins in 1986, when a beautiful 200-year-old Lebanese house became our family home – Over the course of nearly four decades, it has witnessed several restorations, providing for milestones of joy and countless memories. It now houses an original art collection from various cultures and regions spanning the Middle East to East and Southeast Asia: artifacts, sculptures, and exclusive artworks have found their way to this beautiful house, adding to its distinctive character as a meeting place of civilizations and religions.
Today it has been transformed into a guesthouse: Indira – a name meaning “splendid” in Sanskrit. Here, its guests are sure to find the comfort and tranquility they seek within a welcoming atmosphere, attentive service and delicious cuisine.
A house that celebrates cultures and civilizations
Refurbished in a joint-collaboration between award-winning designer Carla Baz; esteemed makers of fine oriental crafts since 1862, MAISON TARAZI; and multi-talented fashion consultant and ELLE magazine fashion editor turned interior stylist, Carole Tarazi Nasnas, the house is designed to transport visitors to a place where past and present combine in ways that evoke a golden era of sophisticated and understated luxury: Damascene carpentry merges with colorful Chinese portraits; antique pieces blend with modern lines and color palettes; velvet couches and ornate patterns bring subtle elegance and timeless comfort – The result is Indira: a unique and timeless residence that will delight and enchant.
